The Mississippi River is a magical and mysterious place. It is wide, fast-moving, and very long. Its color changes from a bluish to brown as it picks up bits of soil, especially from the Missouri River.
You'll see many kinds of boats on the river. Some of them are working boats, like towboats and barges; some of them are pleasure boats, like houseboats or kayaks.
You can also see many kinds of birds, fish, and other wildlife at the river. It's a great place for an adventure! Start your adventure with the activities here. Be sure to explore other parts of the RiverWeb website, too.
Then talk with you family about going to see the river in person!
